To examine it properly, requires a previous trekker, or long hiking experience, will be a good advantage of there’s any doubt with you. The ‘Kumbakarna’ has derived from Indian mythology of Ramayana or Mahabharata as a “giant”, who was the younger brother of Giant Ravan that he had fought with Ram (lord) in the age of Ramayana. Giant Kumbakarna used to sleep for six months and had used to eat for six months.

Once while he was doing a hard penance, lord Brahma became very much pleased and asked him to get some boon from him to make him happy, and asked him to get some boon from him to make him happy, and the giant said that “let me have a boon of six months sleeping and six months eating”, lord Brahma kindly offered this blessing and so he used sleep in such sleep, if someone would march ahead on through his body, he wouldn’t notice it, so in Nepal and Nepalese if someone sleeps a lot, he is said to be Kumbakarna, so the mount Kumbakarna has been derived from the giant Kumbakarna name, in nepali word ‘kum’ means shoulder, this mountain has ledge on the both sides.
